• Architected a cross-shard statistics aggregation pipeline that propagates shard-level statistics to coordinator-level PostgreSQL statistics, enabling the query planner to make accurate cardinality estimates and optimize repartition strategies.
• Replaced bulk shard-metadata caching with a lazy, incrementally-populated key-cache system, eliminating a 200ms+ cold-start penalty on initial connections and reducing p99 insert latency by 8x (from 200ms to 25ms).
• Engineered cross-engine query features that enabled external database nodes (e.g., MySQL) to register under a PostgreSQL coordinator, facilitating transparent query execution across heterogeneous environments.
• Optimized data transfer pipelines using efficient serialization and compression techniques, achieving up to a 5x performance improvement in overall query execution.
• Designed high-performance pagination systems to eliminate OFFSET-based performance bottlenecks and executed zero-downtime database migrations using blue-green deployment strategies to ensure uninterrupted production traffic.

Built a small stats PostgreSQL extension to understand the internals of PostgreSQL and to get familiar with the codebase.

• Designed and implemented a PostgreSQL extension that hooks into the query planner to provide a number of queries executed on the given table.
• Uses the PostgreSQL hooks to intercept the type of query being executrd and store the count in a custom stats table, which can be queried by the users to get insights into query patterns.
